Taihe Academy

景点4.png

Taihe Academy is Ming and Qing-style Lingnan buildings. As the core building cluster in He Yuan, it is composed of Ming and Qing academy buildings in three-jin pattern (Yuwen Hall/Chengxin Hall/Guipu Hall) as well as Hanlin Building, Guipu Hall and other courtyard-style buildings.

Taihe Academy is integrated with natural graceful gardens through the traditional architectural forms of halls. It adopts traditional brick, wood and stone structures in three-jin pattern, supported by zigzagging corridors and waterfront pavilions. Pavilions, garden and towering trees are staggered in a tranquil environment. The lake in the courtyard, long corridors, and rockery complement with gurgling water and the landscape, showing the beauty of Lingnan classical gardens. Each year, the academy regularly holds a full variety of cultural and art exhibitions, puppet shows, Chinese traditional music instrument performances, intangible heritage studies, traditional cultural and art exchanges, etc.
